2010 Hardrock Hundred Entry Requirements

The Hardrock Hundred is a "post-graduate" run. For safety reasons, not as an attempt at elitism, we cannot accept novice runners. You must satisfy at least one of the following qualifying standards:

  1. Finished any Hardrock within the past five years times it has been run (2005-2009).

  2. Started any Hardrock within the past three time it has been run (2007-2009).

  3. Completed any one of the following hundred milers during 2008, 2009, or 2010: Wasatch, Eagle, Bear, Leadville, Angeles Crest, Massanutten, Western States, Grindstone, Plain, HURT, Bighorn, Grand Teton, Tahoe Rim Trail, Tour de Mont Blanc (163 km version), or Cascade Crest Classic.

  4. Demonstrated equivalent mountaineering experience.

AND you must be approved by the Run Committee.

Foreign candidates (who may not have access to the runs listed above) and runners who do not strictly meet these qualifications should submit a 500 word (or less) account of their ultrarunning/mountain experience that convinces the selection committee that they are prepared for the run.

Entries may be submitted anytime, but must be received by February 6, 2010, when the Run Committee will select entrants. The 140 selected runners will be notified immediately thereafter. It is not necessary to send your entry fee with your entry application, but if selected in the lottery you have until the end of February to submit your entry fee.

A waiting list will be maintained after the field is full. If you are moved onto the starter's list from the wait list, you will be notified and will have two weeks to submit your entry fee.

If you withdraw from the starter's list prior to June 1, 2010, you will receive a full refund of your entry fee if a wait listed runner takes your place. On or after June 1, 2010, you will receive a 50% refund if a wait listed runner takes your place. If there are no runners on the wait list, no refunds will be given.

The algorithm we will use to select runners from the applicant pool in 2010 is the same as that used in 2009 - see the entry selection procedure page.
