Important notes for Hardrock runners, crew, and pacers

Internet access at the Silverton Library: There is a new internet use policy at the Library (aka the Hardrock hang-out spot). You must sign in to use a terminal, and you will be limited to 30 minutes, at which time you must leave the computer. No extensions will be granted, except in the case where no other users are waiting for a spot.
This is not much different from the existing policy, but it should be noted that it will actually be enforced, due to a lot of problems last year with users needing "just a few more minutes", etc. (Not Hardrockers specifically, as the whole town gets innundated around the 4th of July).
Keep this in mind while you are in town, as there are currently NO email cafes or other ways to get internet while you are in town. Even the high school discontinued their evening hours.

Outlaw course marking: We have heard rumors that runners have built cairns to provide their own personal course marking. This could put our BLM permit for the run in jeopardy, and is not allowed! Runners doing this risk being disqualified, the same as if you were littering. We are required as a condition of our permit to leave as little evidence of our passing as possible, and have even been asked to change our route from year to year in meadow areas to avoid creating a permanent path. This is one reason we place and remove the course markings within as short a time as possible around race weekend. Thanks to all for your cooperation on this.
