We at the Ultrarunners Supporting Ultrarunners (USU) Fund, Incorporated would like to
thank the ultrarunning community for their support of the United States Ultradistance Team
once again in 2002. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to assist the members of the
team, allowing them to represent the United States at the IAU 100Km World Cup in Torhout,
Belgium this year.

We collected $6000 this year. We reserved $400 for 2003 expenses (printing and mailing
brochures and other publicity materials, telephone expenses, etc.). The remaining $6600
was divided between the 14 eligible team members who attended the 2002 race in Torhout.
One women’s team member was unable to participate because of an injury, so the funds were
divided equally among six men runners, five women runners, two team managers, and the team
doctor.

We would also like to announce some changes at the USU Fund. Stewart Logie, founder and
long-time board member and treasurer of the corporation, has resigned to make time for his
many other community-service interests. Stewart’s dedication, scrupulous attention to
detail, clarity, and vision have been instrumental in helping the USU fund grow. Stewart
deserves many, many thanks for his years of service to the 100Km team.

We welcome Stewart’s replacement, Stan Ferguson. With Stan’s assistance, we will continue
to pursue the USU’s mission: To support our country’s best ultrarunners as they represent
the U.S. each year at the 100Km World Challenge. We believe that running ability, not the
depth of a runner’s pocketbook, should determine whether or not they represent U.S.
ultrarunners.

The next 100Km World Challenge will take place on November 16, 2003 in Taipei, Taiwan.
The qualifying race for prospective team members is the Edmund Fitzgerald 100K, to be held
during the second week of October, 2002.

We thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Chrissy Ferguson,	President
