September 12, 2002 Dear USU, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to those who contributed to the USU fund enabling the 2002 100K National Team to compete at the 2002 100K World Cup in Torhout, Belgium, this past June. The national 100K team is not a USATF nationally sponsored team, and must therefore rely on the generosity of individuals, running clubs, race directors, etc. to assist us to meet the financial obligations necessary to compete at an international level. While a significant amount of time is typically spent with logistical details, the burden of fund raising is significantly reduced because of your efforts and kindness in assisting us meet the requirements for room, board, and travel. Representing the United States is an honor never to be forgotten and will remain etched in memory forever. Please realize that I can not do this alone, and truly depend on so many to help with so much. Thank you seems so insignificant for all you have done and for all you continue to do to help dreams become reality. Although the team is said to be comprised of 15 individuals, please know that each sponsor and contributor is an integral part of the national 100K team. God bless you and thank you!!!! Sincerely, Lin Gentling Manager, 2002 Men's 100K National Team
