The SGM 50k has an epic downhill start, with a protracted "come-to-Jesus"
uphill finish. This separates ultra sheep from goats, big time.

It must be noted that Tom Nielsen got an extremely tardy start out of the
parking lot, at least a full minute behind the pack. Jorge Pacheco led thru
Sturdevant 1 [17 miles], but slipped to second on the second Sturdevant
pass. Mark Marcelli caught him on the way to the summit.

Suzanne Brana led the women's field with a strong lead.

No doubt other race reports will follow shortly.
