We have a new Start/Finish location at beautiful Stinson Beach State Park (www.nps.gov/goga/stbe.htm) with plenty of parking, protection from the ocean breezes, several excellent cafes, a small market, lodging, and more.
Runners will climb from the little town of Stinson Beach up toward Pan Toll, roll through the Redwoods along Bolinas Ridge, cruise the single-track through Tennessee Valley over to Rodeo Lagoon and the Golden Gate Bridge, and enjoy the incredible Point Reyes’ seashore vistas on the return before dropping down to the finish line.
The 2012 event will feature the traditional heated tent and barbecue, along with massage tables, outdoor showers, an expo, and plenty of space for families and crews to stretch out.
Lottery registration begins December 1 at UltraSignup.com; check the How to Enter link for details.
Precise info – new course map, Mileage Chart, Cut-offs, Altitude Profile, etc. - will be available by February 15. See the Course Description link to the left for a general idea; most of the trails remain the same as in previous years, just run in a different order.
The Miwok 100K is very hilly (approximately 11,500 feet of cumulative elevation gain) with spectacular views of
San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, Mt. Tamalpais and the Point Reyes National Seashore. The course is a
modified out-and-back, consisting of mostly fire roads and single-track trails with less than four miles on roads.
The race is extremely competitive at the front, a rewarding challenge for the mid-pack and a glorious long day in
the forests and fields for those not in a hurry.
There is a fantastic post-race barbecue, great tech-fabric race shirt and goodie bag with useful, ultra-specific
items from our outstanding sponsors.
Miwok is a lot of fun to run, and volunteering at the race can also be a blast. You meet great people, help your
community, and get food and some great swag, too. It’s also a great way to learn about ultrarunning and improve
your own performance by observing a lot of runners’ pacing and aid station strategies. Check out the Volunteers
link to your left to see what you can do (volunteer info will be updated in November, 2011) and send me an e-mail
(Miwok100k@gmail.com).
If you cannot find the answers on this website, please feel free to e-mail me with any questions.
See you on the trails!
